World’s First Dock-less and Cash-free Bike Share Platform
The Idea
Velospot is the world’s first and largest dockless and cash-free bike-share platform in Switzerland. With Velospot, you can get around your city easily, with no need to get stuck in traffic, and park your bike at stations.

Challenge
The requirement was for a dynamic website for a bike sharing platform where bikes could be zoned in stations spread around various cities in Switzerland. Moreover, the facility of refilling and recharging bikes for use with necessary status updates for availability.
Additionally, the website must ensure the tracking of bikes, bike management (internal), docking of bikes at various stations, and online booking and payment.
Solution
We designed and developed a fully functional website and a mobile application version using Laravel Core, a PHP framework, that makes the application more user-friendly and robust. It’s highly compatible with MySQL, increases runtime efficiency, and makes the database more secure. The web mobile application provides all the below features to the end users as well as to the admins, covering all the requirements.
1. Bikes
- In every zone with multiple stations, in every station, the number of bikes available to book.
- Timely bike refills at every station.
- Timely bike battery recharge station by station.
- Tracking of individual bikes.
- Maintaining all three types of bikes- Mechanical, Electrical & Hybrid.
2. Admin
- As per hierarchy access permission to monitor and manage bikes.
- Backend credit adjustments for users in the event of a technical failure.
3. Users
- Pre-booking bikes is an option.
- Option for docking of bikes at multiple stations.
- Bikes’ availability as per requirement with a booking amount for a certain period of locking time or with an upfront payment for availing instant service.
- To unlock a bike, users can use a code or swipe a card.
- Multiple bikes can be unlocked at a time if the purchased subscription has permission.
- To ride more, credit can be purchased with an existing subscription.
